In the second grade, I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, an autoimmune disorder. My doctors at the time used oversimplified metaphors to describe the complicated and confusing goings-on of my body in a way a seven-year-old would understand.
Even though I’m old enough now to properly explain my disorder when asked, I find myself still using these silly stories to do so: this has always been how I’ve made sense of it.
I wanted to bring one of those analogies to life. Pairing cartoonish stop motion and a morose narrative, I’ve tried to present this sensation of betrayal by your own body in the same childish terms once used to explain it to me.
